Optimizely
Optimizely uses cookies and local storage for experiments and personalization. Those are typically non-essential until consent covers them—load Optimizely after the CMP and gate on the right purpose.
Prerequisites
- Quickstart.
- Know whether you treat experiments as marketing, analytics, or a dedicated category in your CMP policy text.
Google Tag Manager
- Load the Optimizely snippet from a tag that fires only when the matching consent is granted (or use Optimizely’s own consent integration patterns if you use them).
- Do not fire Optimizely on All Pages at consent init before choice unless your legal default explicitly allows it.
Cookie and local storage consent
Optimizely’s documentation describes storage behaviour. Align banner categories with what Optimizely sets; use Debugging if you see storage before accept.
Verify
- Storage / network for Optimizely should align with before vs after consent.
- Experiments still assign visitors correctly once allowed.
